When you donate to any of these organizations, please remember to specify that it is to go to the Katrina relief. Otherwise they may just bank it for something else.
My coworkers collected $200.00 dollars between us and we have bought alot of food and we are driving it over to Biloxi tomorrow since we are so close. The CEO of our facility gave my supervisor the Company credit card and said for her to go buy food also. We have 2 trucks filled.....and we are only 30 people...think of what a big company could do......

A CALL IN THE FORCE.. ATTENTION ALL JEDI.. We are in terrible times in the gulf coast od LA,MS, and AL...Let us show a strength in force and contribute to the relief as much as we can. We can do our part by contributing in our communities or where ever we can....if it means going to a charity and donating...sending or driving goods to the area.. :nods: to Emerita..... How ever you can contribute...please do so.... I am gonna try to get the local fanforce in gainesville..to take up donations or do a charity drive.....contact your local fanforce's or community charities and help these people get some peace of mind back in their lives...a little goes a long way.... May the FORCE be with us and everyone who helps the victims of Hurricane Katrina TaiLon Kae

my wife and i made it out of new orelans. We and all of our family and our extended family at LSU med school are fine, so far. We are relocating to Lafayette, LA for the forseeable future. Thanks for all of your concerns. We didnt save much from our home, only a laptop and our wedding photos, plus a couple of outfits each, but we made it out alive and in good health...unlike so many people still in the city.

TND, glad to hear you're OK.
This might be helpful if you're trying to reach family in the area of Katrina, the source was reliable and has used it successfully. You can send text messages to cell phones in the area that can recieve text, they cannot recieve incoming calls, but they can call out to anywhere but area code 228. Hope that this is useful if you have people that you are trying to reach.
Blood donations are also needed, designate them for the Katrina relief effort too.
TaiLon, a Blood Drive might be a really good thing to do.

Hi all, I'm in Atlanta for DragonCon, and there's some cool news. All the funds from the "Walk of Fame" (Guest star autographs, pics etc.) will be donaited to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. There's a blood drive here as well.

Glad to hear you and yours are well, Dennis. It's terrible to loose everything, but it makes survival and health that much more meaningful.

This morning I saw on CNN where Castro said that he would send doctors over to help...he added that "This is not the time to kick an enemy.... while they are down...".........yeah, right. We have 50 other countries that have pledged help.....Casto needs to take care of his own poverty stricken, which is about 70% of his country...I realize it was a nice gesture, but I can't believe he was sincere. He just did it because he didn't want to look bad..... ask any Cuban in Miami. I do think it is absolutely marvelous how people are pulling together once again.... We from the Gulf Coast salute you all.............

All of my friends and families in Al. decided they should listen to me when I said I thought they should go have a nice vacation somewhere, like Las Vegas, and they went en-masse, they weren't in the direct path, but quite a bit of wind damage and power off a couple of days, they were quite happy that they listened to me. 7 families, 3 generations 3 dogs, 5 cats, a rat & a hamster, they chartered 4 buses and found a couple of animal friendly hotels off the strip, family vacation, more like mass migration!

Sorry to Everyone that I havent been on for a very long time. We have been keeping our fingers crossed, but I found out that I've lost 3 very very good childhood friends to the Hurricane. I'm not sure what I'm going to do right now. I'm not sure why I'm even posting...I suppose that I'm sending my thoughts out there just to have them out there. I'm not asking for Sympathy or pity...just perhaps a moment of thought and silence...

Daimler Chrysler (I work for a Chrysler Dealer) is also taking donations and matching funds... I don't think they have ever done anything like that before...
