The Piercing thread got me thinking about this... The only Jedi I can think of that had tattoos were Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee, and in the EU, Quinlan Vos. Does that mean it's okay for Jedi to have tattoos, or should I try and keep mine covered by my costume?

I have always thought of it this way ...
Tattoos are like sewing your shoes on your feet.

Well, that's your opinion, which you're entitled to, though what you said doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Some tattoos would work better with a Jedi than others. I don't think a big heart with "I love Jessica" or something would be good. Or some of the others I have seen.
I happen to think mine would work well though........
It's like blue against red/good against evil, when you look at it that way, though that's not the original meaning of it.

Thanks, Syn-Kai-Jinn, It's a Celtic knot version of the Yin-Yang symbol slightly rotated. I bought the image online and colored it on my computer to see how it would look and to take with me while I was shopping for a local artist to do it.
I'd seen a photo of it that was all red, and you couldn't tell what it was. So I had the idea of coloring the 2 seperate sides, using my 2 favorite colors, red and blue.

It is a very nice tat. I love celtic knots. I have a yin-yang that is black & red with wolf paw prints in the place of the circles with a blue wolf beneath it ( guess what animal I am nuts about LOL ).

Well, the thing is I had my tattoos done to take attention away from a scar that I was self-concsious of, so it's something that I will always want there, and I've never once regretted having done, although I must admit, some people's attitudes towards tattoos/tattooed people can be dissapointing, but I think mostly it comes from not knowing much about the subject, or people with tattoos, so I don't take anything personally by it. To the topic though, I'm taking it that it is okay for a Jedi to have a tattoo, providing it's for personal/spiritual reasons, and not simply for self decoration? Here're some old photos of my tattoos, it's since been expanded to my elbows. images.faceparty.com/public/667/images/slashedprince_4540712.jpgimages.faceparty.com/public/667/images/slashedprince_4540713.jpg

Well, I'd say most Jedi costumes would cover that area, so, it's not that much an issue.

Tanzen, your tattoo is pretty. Can a jedi wear a tat? Why not? Most of the costumes cover were most tattoes are. Some are very well done and look nice, although I won't have one put on me I can appreaciate the work put into them both by the wearer desgning them and the artist bringing that to life.

Thanks Hee hee, when I was 18, I swore I'd never get a tattoo, but I had my first one done the day before my 23rd birthday (would have been on my birthday, but I had to work that day) and three years later, there's even more ink, so never say never

Heh though my tattoo was a tad painful being the size of it and where it was I still don't regret it, and it doesn't affect my costume as you can't see it . I almost wanred to get a Quinlan Vos tattoo He;s got great tribal markings

These are my only tats: The dragon represents the more volatile side of my personality (something I am overcoming bit-by-bit). The Kanji script has been translated for me by a friend who told me it literally translates into "Jade" and "Pieces". He then explained that there is a old Chinese proverb that says, "Rather to be broken pieces of jade, than intact piece of clay." The meaning behind this has to do with honour. Jade is precious and clay is worthless, so as a man (or woman), it is better to die with your honour intact than to live the life of a person who is honourless.
