Solorad (my hubby) had problems with his faux leather tabbards falling off too, and I had to pin them on at CIII. I just made sure that I only went through one layer of the material, which was a royal pain. He wants me to make leather ones for him, which I will probably attach with velcro. Duct tape...hilarious!!! ;D ;D ;D The idea of having a cloth tabbard underneath is a good one, and I believe that Anakin does have cloth tabbards under the leather ones, at least in AOTC. I have never been able to figure that out though...does anyone know if he really does, or can anyone point me to a good pic that shows it?
i think that maybe if you are of a more narrow frame, then cheat and make the tabbards a little less wide.
am i wrong on this?

I most definitely have to adjust the width of my tabbards, because my shoulders are very narrow! On my old CII costumes, I think my tabbards were only 4" wide...Solorad's are at least 6". I had two sets that I used at CIII that were way too wide...I didn't try them on before the con (because I was sewing my costumes up till the last minute ;D) and I used Solorad's pattern because I couldn't find mine. They wound up being WAY too big for me, so I plan on making them narrower before the EpIII midnight showing we are going to. I think they really should be proportional to the shoulders. For Solorad, his go out to the end of the tuck I put on his sleeves, like Obi-Wan's costume, so they project out slightly wider than his shoulders. I don't know if I'll do the same with mine...makes me get flashbacks of the late 80s and early 90s when shoulder pads in women's clothing was popular! LOL, NOT a good look for me ;D.

i have pretty wide shoulders and had no trouble with my tabbards staying up. i was at c3 with a buddy of mine, who's shoulders are much less broad than mine, but his tabbards were about the same size. He needed snaps to keep his up. i think that maybe if you are of a more narrow frame, then cheat and make the tabbards a little less wide.
