I was thinking of an all black Jedi costume. What I am thinking is that we left off with Luke Skywalker wearing an all black half Vader/ half Jedi outfit. Wouldn't a "Balanced Force" be exactly half way between Jedi/Sith? Maybe as a true neutral?
I see from the spoilers that Anekin will start the next movie as a dark chocolet brown Jedi and we know that he will end up as Vader, would he not at some point be a "Dark Jedi" and nothing says dark (or easy) like black.
What are your thoughts?

I saw rock on, an all black Jedi would look great! but as for the Assembly rules and RL rules, you won't officialy be a Jedi... they don't accept predominantly black costumes as a Jedi custume unless it's a ROTJ Luke look-a-like

As far as all black not being Jedi... There are two groups that define what a Jedi is or is not, One is Lucas&Co, the other group is the fans themselves. Lucas can not go too far from his established works before some mundane says "hey that isn't a Jedi." But for us, the hardcore fanatics, I don't think that we are so unable to think outside the box that we can not see Luke Skywalker as a Jedi just because he is wearing all black in ROTJ. It is prophesized that some day there will be an all black Jedi. Just as it has been prophesized that Anakin will bring ballance to the force by killing off all but two Jedi and two Sith. Thus when at the end of ROTJ when those four are dead there will be only one dark Jedi. Am I right or wrong and why exactly?

I say do what you want. If you notice there are no pictures of me in costume on ANY message board. Why? Simple, I could give a hoot what everyone else says - I do the costumes for me not them.
My original Jedi Costume was Black with Grey Inner Tunic and Under Tabbards. Looked cool, walked through a parade happy, got rained on all day, costume shrank, and now won't fit on me. I already have planned a new Jedi Costume, it will be a spin on what I have and the black with red trim Darth Maul action figure. Why? Simple, I want to do it that way.
My first real "movie costume" is being done as I type this. I am excited by it because it is one of two that I have wanted since seeing the movies the first time way back when I was a little kid. The other, Boba Fett, is going to be a work in progress hopefully for next year.
Bottom line - what makes you happy? Do you like the black fabric look? Do you think your design will make you happy?
None of those questions require a typed answer. Just think about it and be honest with yourself about what you want.

All I can say is do what you want to express yourself. There is no problem with that. If you want to participate in official Lucasfilm events, you must be canon. Lucasfilm Licensing defines canon as anything from the films, the final drafts of the screenplays, the film novelizations, the radio dramas, and the comic book adaptations of the films. Original costumes and costumes from the Expanded Universe (books, comics, games, etc.) are not considered canon.
So have fun, and be yourself.

After reading all of the posts to this and related black jedi questions, I can see that you guys are concerned over "CANNON" for CIII, well why didn't you say that?
For me and others who will not be at CIII what do we care? Little if anything.
Back to the original question, what do you as Sci-Fi Fans, not as LucasFilm Lawyers, you as Fans, think about an all black Jedi?
I can see that in order to be recognized as Jedi by mundanes an all black out fit would have to be EXACTLY cannon in every other way Still you would be misidentified as Sith half the time anyway.
I went back and watched Darth Maul's fight sequence and there is little diference between Jedi & Sith costumes. Which makes some kind of good/evil ying/yang point to the story.
We know where Lucas must go with SW3 as 2&4 have all ready been filmed. My thoughts are that a "BALLANCED" Jedi order will be the result in SW789.

I say: Wear what you want. I couldn't care less what is canon and what isn't. I know when I was first designing my costume, I wanted to be a grey jedi. Everybody screamed"NOT CANON!!!", Acting as if my costume wasn't good enough because it wasn't earth tones.
I mean, realistically, why shouldn't a jedi be able to wear any color he/she wants?

Well Partyattheckhouse
The fact is that no two Jedi are exactly the same anyway. Why is that? My thoughts are that like the lightsaber is handmade, each Jedi makes their own uniform as well. Or, maybe has it taylored for him or her which would be the same.
Remember that the Jedi are Policemen and must have clothing that is recognizable to the general public as well as to each other. So there will be some reason that the Jedi kinda look CANNON.
I was looking around my FOB and there are at least seven different uniforms in use even though we are all issued the same clothes initially. There are specialist uniforms for tankers, mechanics, pilots, fuel truck drivers as well as the "standard uniforms." Then add the fact that a few Soldiers have taken pockets off the uniform blouse front and moved those pockets to the sleaves. because the buletproof vests completely cover the blouse. But wait, after that some, but not all of the soldiers were issued pauldrons which cover the newly moved pockets!!!!! So veriations on uniforms happen.

Basically evaluate your needs and wants to help you come up with your design. If you are throwing cannon out the window then the sky is really the limit - right? I do want to point out 1 little thing to you - Sith and Jedi costumes are indeed different. Look at Dooku - very different. Vader - aside from needing the life support unit to live is very different from Jedi. Darth Maul - at first glance looks the same but it has differently layed out layers - here is a site that shows the different layers: www.kropserkel.com/maul.htmThat is a great look at all the different layers of Maul's costume - which I will be using as a base for my new design (once I get that far) Again - it is what you want/need - make sure you are happy - that is what is really important Dave

I beg to differ Dave, the more that I read up on the Sith it is obvious that the Sith are almost all EX-JEDI (Docu, Vader)and the Sith were founded by EX-JEDI.(EU)
If you take Jedi costumes and dye them black, you get Sith, like wise take Sith costume, change the colors to CANNON and you get a Jedi. It is a ying/yang thing. Which is what Lucas is aluding to.
My opinion is that Lucas has thought this out and left ambiguity here so that his caracters have some depth to them. Docu looks to be a real sleazebag but we will see in the end of SW3 won't we.

It appears to me that the Sith costumes differ noticably from Jedi, not just in color... but even saying that, the Jedi have quite a lot of variation in their attire as it is. So you say Jedi must have a standard tunic set, tabbards, obi, and robe to be "canon"... well, look at the jedi council: a lot of them have some variation where a peice or two is ommited or the whole oufit is unique. And then you have Jedi like Luminara and Barriss, Shaak Ti, and Aayla... quite a bit of variation there.
I'd venture a guess that roughly half the main jedi we've seen don't follow "canon" guidlines - and the robe & tunic stereotype is just the stock option for Jedi to start with.

Well...indeed....this same question has come up many, many, many, many, many times.... We here at TJA accept no full members in black with the exception of a canon version of Luke's from ROTJ..... Canon....well...there is endless debate about that too...it is the "standard" to have Jedi colors in shades of brown....yes...there are other colors....Barriss, and a few others.....there are many different styles......some Jedi take their cue from the clothes of their homeworld (note even Aayla Secura wore brown)...... Not even all Jedi wore undertunics....Adi Gallia for one wears no under-tunic....but MOST all of the Jedi wear brown... Why canon? If you want to participate with Lucasfilm in any way/shape/form...you mostly need canon...There is a LOT of fun doing functions that are sanctioned by Lucasfilm.... I was going to be a participant at the London Symphony Orchestra "Music of Hollywood" tour before it got cancelled....I will be participating at the "Midnight Madness" event for the release of the OT on DVD , I have done 3 sessions at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago....and several other Star Wars booksigning events....well...you get the idea.... not only can you NOT participate in some of this stuff without a canon costume....even at events where canon is optional...it can be frustrating when people don't know what you are dressed as.... Some people that have only seen the OT don't even recognize canon Jedi from the PT...trust me! so....the question of canon or not....member or not...IS strictly up to you all.... I have several Jedi costumes....each one uses some key components from my "base" Jedi...(like the belt, boots, food capsules, pouches...etc....) but I can change the tunic and undertunics around.... I guess the big question is once you finish your costume....what do you want to do? As far as an all black Jedi.... I will be honest... It doesn't do much for me....

Ditto. Make whatever costume YOU will be happy with, like Saberbelt said. After all is said and done, YOU are the one who has to wear it! As a movie group, we want to be recognized as Jedi from the movies. We're NOT an EU or an RP group, and that's the reasons for the rules we have on costumes. And we do accept some of the EU Jedi. We just can't guarantee that LFL will for volunteering. So.... cannon wars aside, we decided what our goal was, and it's to be recogzied as Jedi to the general public-- the light side kind only. And like Schph said, that alone can be a chore! Some one at D*C thought I was Robin Hood! Ok, she wasn't a Con Rat, but it was still funny! Now please excuse me while go design my Sith costume. Not that I know where to wear it, but I just want one cause it's cool...............

A sith costume, well, no doubt I'll do one some day, but, I'd just wear it to work, 'cos black is a good colour for there, and some times the theatres require all black. , but, that's probably why I really don't like to wear black all that much, anyway.
