yes, a new toy..........however, its not star wars related. see, one of my biggest, if not the biggest, hobbies of mine is music. i can play just about everything: guitar, bass, drums, violin, cello, and alittle sax and trumpet. i happen to work at a guitar shop and music school; i started playing guitar when i was 8, and continued until i was 15, then gave it up for lack of interest.now, after 4 years and my new job, watching the students play have inspired me to pick up the guitar again, so after a four year hiatus, i got myself a new toy: and as a bonus, what i call, "the family": And yes, that is a golf tee sticking out of my wall.

Les Paul... awesome... I'll bet it sounds sweet! You hang your guitars on the wall? Or was that just to photograph them?

thanks!
yea, i do hang them on the wall, its better for the neck relief. i live in a 160 year old house, so the humidity is all over the place, so instead of resting the guitar against the neck, i hang them on the walls from the headstock so it wont risk any damage to the neck, and so i wont trip over them, stub my toe on them, or knock them off the stands. it helps save space too; its actually kinda funny. when my family moved into the house, i just kinda left that wall bear becuase i didnt know what to put there, then over time i got back into music and started hanging instruments on it. thats only half the wall, you should see whats sitting on the floor under them!
as for the guitar, it sounds insane. its a lm special, so it has higher end humbuckers in it, and its all one lovely peice of mahogany, i adore it!

hehe! no, i've never been one to name my implements of audio-destruction. though i'm big on customizing, right now i'm getting some white accent parts for the les paul. the warwick(5 string in the middle) got a full electrical overhaul when i got it, and still needs some new stuff before i'm saticfied. the ibanez on the far right got drilled for string-through-body bridge setup to add some sustain, got the tuners fixed, got 5 stickers removed, and had a intense cleaning.
i guess its the tech in me. i hate new guitars; i'de rather something alittle more worn in that has some character. my ibanez looks like a utter peice of junk, but it plays amazingly. the warwick is a low end model, but with alittle love and attention, it sings. the les paul has its share of gashes, dents, finish wear and marring, belt rash, strap rash and pick rash, but it sounds and plays sweet.

That's inspiring... I need to start tweaking mine a bit more. I'm timid when it comes to modding instruments. I'm scared to wreck them. But why not, I guess... right?

leda, you play? which one do you have?
and a good peice of advice i got, when you want to start modding/fixing instruments, specifically guitars, a great book to read is "guitar player repair guide" by dan erlewine, its pretty much the guitar tech bible, it explains how ot do everything, and what you'll need ot do it. awesome book.
and from me, dont be afraid to get your trusty phillips head out and pop open those cavities, read that book and start doing your own maintainance, its a liberating experience. right now i just finished ordering parts ot make it a tuxedo LP.

Hehe... sort of. I strum and pluck and sometimes if I'm lucky it sounds ok. I have way more guitars than necessary for my skill level.

leda, a wise man once said, "nooo, i'm not a guitar player, or a bass player, no, not even a drummer. i'm a musician: i suck at alittle bit of everything." so what do you have exactly?
