Just out of curosity, I was wondering, if any one else had done any work on making a Non-Human looking Jedi persona...ie..Twi'leks, Cathar, etc.
I had to ask...since I do klignon stuff already..doing an alien Jedi isnt that far off.
Just curious. Thanks!

In the future I'd like to attempt making a set of Twi'lek lekku that could be used with my Jedi costume...

I am in the Process of supplying a fellow fan with Lekku for their costume.
I am also in the negotiation phase for a Hutt costume.
Anyone interested in professional quality Headpeices & prosthetics, please let me know...

I've occasionally considered doing an alien type, but mostly not, as overheating and breathing problems can get in the way most of the classic ones from SW, tho, I might concoct one that I can cope with in the future, possibly an aquatic type, or an avian, I like feathers.

Hmm... A Kit Fisto costume would be cool. It would be a big pain to put on though (Lots of makeup which needs to be put on by someone else) and it would be uncomfortable. The painstaking trouble of putting it on can't be undone, but does anyone have ideas on making it more wearable?

But the SW universe is pretty deverse enought to come up with a creature, that wont cover up your face too bad. Might have to combine a few items, to get the look you want.

As far as a Kit Fisto..it looks like on the actor, the lower half is his face, and nose are open...on order for him to be more expressive. It you made the tenticle to cover the head and the face piece that delt with the eyes..and left the rest open, that should make it much more comfortable.
Alien stuff for overheating/breathing problems... Well Avian would be pretty cool. hehehe. Just dont be allergic to feathers. I would think it would be great. Have to do some of the creatures not seen often.

Well, there are millions of races in the Galaxies, some are rarely seen, and not really well known. I do have an Ewok that I made after ROTJ, but is really brutal to wear, totally enclosed from head to toe, I last about 15 mins. max in that one. But it is cute.

Woah!
I bet! That just like being in a Furry Costume. Wall to wall fur. Not unless I had some major fans in the costume, dont think I want to tackle that one hear in Atlanta...hehehe
Unless there is some SNOW.
But I bet, going thru the senators pics could be interesting...hehehe.

Too close fitting for fans, but I might try cold packs at the pulse points if I'm ever crazy enough to wear it again. Not to mention, it weighs a ton to pack. There are patterns for making cold pack/blue gel holders for under costumes so that you don't pass out from heat stroke, might be good idea.

Whew. I bet. Im working on Lekku right now. Hopefully, they will come out alright.
I use plastic mesh when im using heavy stuff like fur when I can...to make room for airflow.
I would like to do somthing with wings. I have seen some nice info for costumes as birds and such.
Bothan would be intersting to try also. It dosent look to restricting. And Cathar (cat) oh yeah.
*better stop before i get to far gone...*
too late.

I can do any alien makeup...
The real question is how expressive you want the prosthetic to be.
Kit Fisto would be tricky because it would only be workable AND reusable in the hands of an experienced SPFX Makeup artist. Makeup edges tend bunch up making for a less convincing prosthetic when applied improperly and when not removed carefully.
Bothans and other aliens tend to be easier in application and removal due to the fact they do cover the entire face.
My current inspiration is to work on making Trandoshan appliances. Hands, Feet, & Whole Head appliances.

It might be tricky, but not entirely impossible. I know the edges would have to be handled carefully, but you learn by trial and error. As I have done klingon costuming, I am constantly learning stuff about the latex, and what you can and cant do with it. You might not look like a movie extra, buy I think you can do a reasonable look, without having to be a SPFX expert.
And the Human looking Bothan hybrids I've seen..dont cover all of the face...which would defianatelly be more comfortable. I would not want to do a FULL mask at a con..unless you have someone with you.
Cant see, can half hear, and have to drink like crazy, to keep from overheating..which usually means taking the thing off.
Now..if its a combination..where you have a face piece made up of maybe 5 or 6 apppliances...*like the guy who did a Falleen chracter this year at D*C*...that would be interesting. It would be more comfortable.
But thats alot of work. Definatelly an all day costume.
In air conditioning.

I tend to try to stick to local dealers, since im in Atlanta. And to buy LOTS during holoween and such..heheheh.. Costume shops, some makeup places, and definatelly the Holloween places when they open up.
BUT..this site has some interesting places you can check out as well, as well as some ideas for diffrent things.
The Costumers manifesto: www.costumes.org/
They deal with all sorts of costuming and makeup for movie, theatre , etc.
They have A HUGE list.
Also, I have learned to basics of casting and making my own latex appliances, for my klingon headpieces and such, as I did not like what I found on the market. There some places that will have you the basics to try on your own. Trial and error sometimes are the best teachers.
Have fun.
