HIya everyone. Heres my first attemp at making a costume. Ive been building props for years but Id never used a sewing machine before or made anything clothing wise so Im quite pleased with how this turned out. Ive made everything except the trousers. Luckily enough I managed to find trousers that were the colour I wanted to complement the costume. The belt and pouches were fairly easy to do as was the lightsabre. Its based roughly on the Mace Windu tunics asI think his just look the best ;D The outer tunic is made from a nice textured linen that I dyed to colour while the inner tunic is a nice thin calico. Its pretty warm to wear but that was good this past weekend on a weekend long LRP game we had. The UK is cold this time of year Heres another picture and some links to other pictures of my costume homepage.ntlworld.com/sparta/heropose.jpghomepage.ntlworld.com/sparta/2jedi.jpgPhil

Very good. :-) have you seen my first attempt? Isn't this a lot of fun to create a wearable work of art? I like the look of your linen, it almost has a suead look to it. Jauhzmynn

Yeah I must admit I really enjoyed making my costume. Ive been building props and electronics for ages so it was a nice change.
Im going to do a more traditional robe next as my present one is a blue/green patterned material. As my character was a Correlian jedi it fit though, but I want it more jedi like for convention use.

Wonderful. :-) A Correlian Jedi's clothing colors are pretty. I like the green robe. But are all the Correleian's clothing green, or shades of green?

Wow, awesome costume. Your first costume came out much better than mine did! How did you make your belt and pouches? That's the only part of my costume that I'm having extreme difficulty in figuring out. (I'm currently working on building my lightsaber, which would be the one in the avatar picture to the left. ;D) -Sionna

The belt was the easy bit Thats my old belt. I bought a 2 inch wide belt blank and dyed it black. The thinner middle belt was just a store bought belt and that was riveted in place at the back and sam browne button were added to keep it centralised. The buckle on that one is actually a decorative peice from a cabinet handle. Working with leather was actually easier than with cloth for me. Its such a nice material to work with, much better than synthetic copies like vinyls. The pouches are of a pretty simple plain design as I still havent played with doing more decorative designs. In effect there just 'boxes' made of leather with all the sewing done at the back to hide it and with a long fold over flap held shut with press studs. The loop that holds them to the belt is also fastedned at the bottom edge with press studs so that they can be removed/added without taking the belt off. Heres my new belt I went for an antique mid brown for this one as I thought it matched the costume colouring better. The antiqueing dye is really good. You just beat the leather with some wood to damage it and put dents etc into the surface then wipe the dye over and it picks out the dents in a darker shade making it look worn which was the look I was going for. Im also working on some boots styled after Maces with the fold over tops. Ive nearly finished them, except for the final colouring. Jauhzmynn - wheres the pictures of your costume located ? I'll go have a look then

bows to Sionna....greetings and welcome to the Jedi Assembly...I will look to see if you have an "introduce yourself thread" started.... .....and the whole reason to make a first costume is to learn....then make the second better....I know that's what I did....and many of us here did the same.... Nice stuff Jeffrek....looks really good....

Also at cons, you might want to change, especially if your their for the weekend. Sometimes events require different things as well, but I just like to have options, or do them for fun, can't have to many tunics.

Jeffrek, what did you use for the food capsules? Did you find the roller-ball pen caps or did you use something else?
