Last month, astronomers watched a meteoroid blast a hole in the lunar Sea of Clouds. Their video of the event is a must-see. I'm sure Industrial Light & Magic could have done a better job, but this is real (the link is to science.nasa.gov).

You're right, ILM could have made the explosion look a lot cooler, but the fact that this really happend is pretty neat.

Oh, very cool! On a slightly larger scale, remember when Schumacher-Levy hit Jupiter? That was awesome footage too! The WOW factor!  Speaking of..... there's a car dealer near me called Schumacher Chevy---- lol!
