Last night "Star Wars-A New Hope" was on cable, and of course, I am obliged to watch! Now that both Episode I and II have been released, I continually find myself watching the Original Trilogy with new eyes.
Some of the things I noted last night as I watched was...well first off...was I was constantly looking at the costumes and props.
Secondly, now that I have read a lot of the books, I was catching names and places being tossed around that I had always not paid attention to before.
Thirdly...everytime Darth Vader would be on screen...I would mutter to myself..."Anakin"...
And another thing...lol...when Han, Luke, Leia and Chewie were in the trash compactor scene...I was thinking of my Hasbro re-creation of that scene that I have in my Star Wars room....
does anyone else get new revelations when they watch the OT now?

i look for bloopers, like the stortrooper cracking his head on the door as they enter on 3po and r2, you can actually see his helmet be knocked ackward.lol.
and when luke and leisa are on the bridge in the death star, the blaster sounds like a dirty harry .44 magnum rather than the sterling blaster sound.
ever notice where did walrus man go, only his arm remains in ep 4. and when the tusken raiders attack luke skywalker on tantooine, and the one that extends his arms up and down, looks to me like a triple edit deal, back and forth back and forth back and forth. lol.

Since it rained all Labor Day weekend and I was stuck indoors...I did a lot of sewing on my Han Solo costume...but I also watched all 5 Star Wars Movies....
I found myself looking at the costumes....A LOT.. I found myself looking at Darth Vader and seeing Anakin...
I looked at Alec Guiness as a young Ewan...to bridge the connection from Original trilogies to the Prequels...I also looked at Padme as Luke and Leia's mom....
Since I have read so many of the novels...I look at Han and Leia as husband and wife....
I also paid a great deal of attention to Luke and Leia's conversation about their mother near the end of ROTJ....and lots of other things like that...
for me, it has become increasingly important to start making the connections between the trilogies....
I continue to see them all with new eyes every time I watch them.....I never grow tired of them....

I too think of Anakin whenever I see Vader in the OT. Especially the first time we see him board the Tantive 4 in ANH.
Vader's redemption in ROTJ is a thousand times more powerful for me now.
Obi-Wan and Vader having their final confrontation aboard the Death Star has a much larger meaning now. When first watching the OT, Ben and Vader's lightsaber duel was pure good vs evil- and Ben's smile as he allows Vader to cut him down was a total mystery.
Now having seen the entire relationship between the two- the final duel is now about former comrades who are now bitter enemies (maybe not as much from Obi-Wan's point of view, but definitely Vader's). You can also see that time has really taken it's toll on the two. And Ben truly has become "too old for this sort of thing". The smile makes perfect sense as Ben has completed his training from Qui-Gon and is ready to merge with the Force (we kinda figured that out after watching ESB and ROTJ the first time around- but it is much clearer with the explanation of Qui-Gon's training).
I also look at Luke differently. He is no longer a young up and coming hero doing his part to defeat the Empire- he is the only hope for the universe! Luke really has no clue just how important he is- not until halfway through ROTJ I would say.
Even Luke's lightsaber can be seen in a whole new light for me (no pun intended). Before the prequels it was simply a "really cool weapon". Now it represents an entire era long gone.
The fact that R2 knows everything explains how he knows the way to Ben's hut on Tatooine.

I find that I like the OT names better. I enjoy the original "outlandishness" of the way they sound. In the OT that was big stuff and in the PT it was just what was expected. I'll admit that a few of the names of the PT were neat and sounded truly "Star Warsie". But in my opinion the names of the OT will definatally be better...always.

Wow, this thread has been around for awhile, hasn't it?
Look at Vader's pauses in ROTJ, especially after he pauses after turning Luke down to come away with him. You could see that Luke had gotten to him. Now you have the backstory for that. That scene means a lot more now.
That scene also points out how revolutionary Luke's actions were. We never saw any Jedi ever try to get a Sith to come to the light side. They never would have even thought of it. It was always one way, Sith corrupting the good. Luke opened things up going the other way, that you could come back from the dark side. Yoda and Obi-Wan couldn't even imagine such a thing. On his own, he came up with the most significant change in the Jedi Order (outside of everyone getting killed when Papatine became emperor, of course) in a millenium.
