I'll be working in the operating room, assisting in surgery and working in the instrument processing dept.....today....I was at work at my weekend job(12 hours, Sat & Sun. at another hospital) and the director there told me that I had to work Labor Day on the 11p-7a shift to cover the holiday. I have to work my full time job from 7a-3p on that Monday and Tuesday. There is no way I can do back to back shifts like that. It is a 45 minute drive between the two jobs. I told her I couldn't work it and she said that I had to. I only work weekends there, and when a holiday lands on the weekend I have to work it, because no one wants to fill in for me....So just before I left tonight at 7:30, I left my resignation in her box. I explained to her the reasons. I was very cordial too. The thing is, the other guys that work the weekend shift before me, did not have to do holidays. She is just seeing how far she can get over on me. Now she will have to be looking for someone to fill my spot. I resigned and and gave her 2 weeks notice and I also told her I would not work that holiday night. I don't know how she will take the news. I know she was expecting me to work the 16 hours without complaint. I know she did not expect me to quit. It is very hard to get weekend staff and it is going to take her awhile to find someone and the day shift certainly doesn't want to do it. Well, good luck to her....I am not going to work if it interfers with my sanity and my new full time job.....I'll just have to learn to live on a slightly smaller budget......her loss...... because I have 22 years experience at that job..... Now I will work Mon-Fri 7a-3p and have my weekends off...wow a normal life once again!

they watched me grab a mop handle and flail around with it as though I were wielding my lightsaber...parrying and thrusting at the parts boxes....
they all ran....

Reminds me of the scene in "UHF" where Michael Richards' character is trying to escape the bad guys and he grabs his mop and hits them and then flails it around and you can hear lightsabre sound effects. Funny!  |

Where it is good that Em is working...I do miss her on the boards...I have a suspicion that her job is getting in the way of her time to post...

It is so nice to be missed ;D.... I worked my last 12 hour weekend last week. I am now just doing Monday- Friday 7a-3:30p... One job...YEA!!!!!! A normal life again and I have time to play!!! I'M BACKKKKKKKKKK!

good grief...you don't REALLY want to hear me sing do you? Happy Birthday Em.... right behind ya babe....turn 52 next month...  I will be on vacation next week.....not going anywhere...can't afford to....but will be volunteering all week for the State of Illinois Master Gardener Conference....so ..... since I will be stuck with my "oh-so-slow" home comuter instead of my "quick-as-a-bunny" work computer...I will probably not be on line too much next week... carry on...  |
