farrasti: They specifically said two that people generally try out, but you should understand the essence of the rule more then the words individually... they don't want toy sabers, so I wouldn't expect too much from your rubies. it isn't very more complicated to build a saber out of hardware store parts... When I sum it up, my lightsaber hilt by itself did cost me about 30$ (plumbing pipe: 10$ hex bolt: 2$ a dozen sliding door material for metal grip: 7$ for 8 foot peper shaker for the shroud: 1$ O-Rings: 3$ Thumbscrews: 5$ Endcap: 2$) and I used only simple tools (dremel, drill, tap) See the result. If I can do that, so can you. remember, this is a costuming association, and standards is what makes such an association as good as it can be. If they'd allow people to use whatever they feel to spare on the costume, why not accepting bathrobe, flashlight and not be a great costume association? The props necessary to complete your costume are only necessary to gain full membership here. If you feel its ennough for your tastes, its OK for you at home, but migh be less then what's expected to become full member... I myself already troop with my local SW association in a costume that I have yet to complete in order to gain full membership here... I don't ask them to bend the rules for me, I'll bend my costume for them. That's how it works.
