It is based on my son's saber. He's 5 years old and can just get both hands on the hilt. With the endcap it is around 7.5" and very good as a one hand or hand and a half saber for someone his size. ALSO Since I did see all the parts in larger sizes simply upsizing the parts and following the same outline will give you an adult sized saber.
The one I am doing for my daughter is about 9"-10" long. She is 8 and it fits her hands perfectly as a one or two handed saber. ALAS no tutorial for this one....I grabbed about $3.00 in close-out sprinkler attachments at Wal-Mart ($.50 each) then "convinced" them to fit together by using force (not The Force: just my dremel). It still needs to be painted, but looks very nice! I'll post pics of it as well.
