Well, my last tunic was a floor length one (ankle length actually) with a stole around the neck instead of tabbards like Obi-Wan's in ANH. I've been very happy with it.
The undertunic is the same on top as the usual kind, but it's long, like a dress with a flared bottom and just a little shorter than the tunic. It's definitely a different look and you can wear brown ankle length boots with it since no one will see the tops.
I haven't posted a pattern for it, but I noticed that Obi-Wan doesn't have any shoulder seams on the top, so the top part is just one piece (plus the collar) and the bottom is 3 pieces, one piece in back and the two front/side peice. I just put in a lot of flare on the bottom, extending it down from the top piece.
