I make the ties on the obi from the same fabric that the obi is made from...
If I have a long enough piece of fabric...the obi and ties are cut as one piece.....if I don't have one piece of long enough fabric...then I make the ties separate...but of the same fabric.
The costume in the photo above is a child's Jedi...since the obi is of a smaller scale...I just decided to used double fold bias tape as I had some in a similar color as the obi.
