Below is a PM I sent to Kathy from MOTF, it shows how I feel about this kind of "snafu":

Hi Cathy,
I just saw on the MOTF board that y'all had "adjusted" the costume categories a bit after-the-fact.
You have me named as winner of the "Best Male Expanded Universe" for my Kyle Katarn costume.
I am certainly happy to win, but I don't recall seeing that category on the entry form.
Can I ask what prompted the late addition of those costume categories?
If it was primarily just to allow more people to get a certificate, I'm not too comfortable with that. Although I realize my chances of ever defeating Thomas Spanos in any costuming category are approximately 3720 to 1, I'm not a fan of giving out awards just to give them out.
If the motivation for moving the Katarn costume to it's own category was that the judges honestly thought it worthy of an award, then I graciously accept.
