I tend to be a very harsh critic when it comes to SW fan films. When a fan films is trying to emulate a chapter in the SW saga, it usually falls very short for me. The acting and special effects are the worst to suffer. It makes me cringe, and I end up not being able to watch more than a minute of it.
That being said, when a SW fan film is a parody or spoof, the acting and SFX can be second (or third, or fourth) rate, and still be very entertaining. This is why TROOPS has to be my favourite fan flick. The filmmakers perfectly blended the SW universe with the documentary "real tv" feeling of COPS. And it is really funny! The last line said by a sandtrooper which goes, "The important thing now is that we find their nephew, uhh... Duke, and make sure he's ok" had me in stitches! TROOPS' SFX were not too shabby either.
I'm downloading IMPS now to check it out.
