I thought Darth was a combo of Dark and Sith. As in Dark Lord of the Sith. Darth. lol!
Also, Vader could be short for "evade" or "invade". Just speculating...........
Just like Sidious is short for "insidious" which makes perfect sense! Palpatine is an insidious threat to the Republic and the Jedi.
Maul is a weapon? I didn't know that! That's cool. I always thought it was like he was sent to "maul" the Jedi. Like an attack dog. That was his main purpose. He wasn't supposed to think, just do.
