I can agree with the "aggressive" appearance of muscle memory.
I have been known to react rather violently when caught by surprize...
while dating my wife and walking her home one night I was surprized by a cat who jumped onto a garbage can in my peripheral vision and I nearly hit the cat with the kick I threw at the can....another time one of my mother's friends jumped at me from around the corner in a hallway and said "BO..." she didn't get the last part out because I grabbed her by the collar, spun her around, threw her against the wall )with her feet off the ground) and was about to punch her square in the face before I even realized it was her (and she was taller thanI was and outweighed me)....another time my dad tried to wake me for school and shook me. I woke up, grabbed his arm, twisted and threw him into the closet door (which cracked). From then on he just came to the foot of my bed and shook the whole bed to wake me.
