Well I actualy have made some progress lately... it's nice having a clean garage to play ...er, I mean work in. 
I finished my little cheap R2 dome, looks pretty good from a few feet away. The closer you get and the more you can tell it was just a first attempt on salvaged light fixture.
But today I got my 18" Super Dome (squirrel guard) so I can get to work on an authentic looking R3 dome ;D
