You also need to make sure that the bobbin is in the casing in the right direction, it needs to rotate in an anti-clockwise direction in the case when you pull the thread.
Loreen, I agree, sounds like the bobbin tension is to loose, try the little screw on the side of the casing if it is a sidewise loading one, usually a very minute turn will do it.
It also could be your needle placement is to high or low or not straight, try a new needle.
Jayden, find the reciept and take the machine to the dealer, they should be able to get you and it set up at least as far as threading and getting started.
