I say if you have the means, make the tabard using a darker colour and then use light-color thread to embroider a flowing floral pattern on top of it. Say dark brown, maroon or even dark purple tabard with peach/tangerine embroidery. That'll add femininity to your costume.
This'll also give your costume a very 'noble' feel to it, somewhat like Jocasta Nu and Shaak Ti's tabards .
