i'll comment on this....
i would say that NEVER should one use an action figure as a reference for any costume aimed at accuracy. they are just too often wrong.
as an action figure customizer...our group talks about these inaccuracies all of the time.
( www.ffurg.com ) Even Slideshow collectibles has messed up one of their figures already..Kit Fisto's belt is just wrong.
I could go on and on.
for fan fic or custom costumes, the figures might provide a good reference or be an inspiration.
