I've often had good results with KRYLON spray paint on pretty much anything, so, you could try that, even if you use the primer to cover it completely and then use other paint to cover that as a base. There are also EPOXY paints that will cover enamel & porcelain tubs and will stick even after with water, I suspect they'll work as well, they need lots of ventilation though, and take quite a while to dry/cure totally.
