Our Jedi Code does state that Karate Gi's are NOT allowed as a component of a member's costume. There was no mention in Jedi Linnear's membership request that his overtunic was a Gi. I think his costume looks really good myself.
Thank you for your compliment, Master Jorlac.
I made no mention in my request, because following the discussions here,
apfoister.proboards9.com/index.cgi?board=TaP&action=display&n=1&thread=935
I would have thought it was widely known to the Council that the costume I would be submitting included a gi, so it seemed redundant to mention it on the application, but this was not an act of subterfuge on my part. My application was purely on the advice of Council members who advised me to complete my costume as I had planned, submit it, and see what happened. I did this, and it was accepted, which lead me to believe that some of the points proposed in the previously mentioned thread had actually been accepted (such as showing the same leniency towards applicants over 80% compliant, as is shown to existing members, or accepting that not every Jedi on the Council wore identical garments to Obi-Wan, such as Ki-Adi Mundi, Yareal Poof and Master Yoda, and that maybe a gi could be accepted as a purchased variation on a theme, as they are of superior quality to a Rubies costume, or even a three tiered membership) This is clearly not the case. If my costume is indeed unacceptable to the Code, it should not have been accepted in the first place. But it was accepted, and that should mean that it passed the test of looking more 'Jedi' than 'martial arts'.
Revoke my membership. I will make a fine example for people to realize that their costumes must be 100% 'movie accurate' in order for them to be accepted in this community.
