Thoughts/ideas from my creative friends!

I was able to purchase a collar for my Slave Leia costume, so now I just need to make the chain links. Here is a picture I found of a girl who made some links. What do you think they are? Where could you buy something like this? What are they made of..they'd have to be light weight! I can see that it's just gold craft wire what makes the gold parts...so that will be easy. Please give me your thoughts on where/how/what to make or buy the links.
