Ha! I'm so old my mother used to take me to the front yard to watch Sputnik fly over! I developed a fascination with the space program from her. In the early days of the manned space program EVERY launch was televised live and we would be glued to the TV. They broadcast radio coverage of John Glenn's orbit via the intercom at school.
