I got ahold of the adjustor- she said that the part we need is out of stock (and the impression she was giving me is that my model of furnace has been discontinued ). Good news: they were able to locate a compatible replacement part that they can install in 5 days. Bad news... it will cost $1600.00. Fortunately they have installment financing for any cost over $500.00. We are also looking into the house insurance about the ruined carpet (it now smells like a wet dog! blech ). But some (semi) good news is that in the meantime I can run the furnace for a couple of hours before it starts leaking like the Titanic- the house is relatively warm at least.
