I didn't realize I was going to be quizzed on my choices. 
War of the Worlds (2005) is listed on that website, so is The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension (takes place entirely on Earth- no space travel at all). Same goes for Close Encounters, Starman, Alien vs Predator (yes that's listed too), Planet of the Apes, ET, Signs, Blade Runner...
Should I go on?
So my impression was that it was a not necessarily a list of space travel movies, but sci-fi movies in general.
