Kids are deeper thinkers than we often imagine them to be. I was shocked when my middle son wrote a very chilling freestyle poem for school... sixth grade poetry... it was about kid dying in a car accident, and he was the kid!
Myself, I wrote alot of poetry when I was little... it's a way to get your feelings out when you're a tongue-tied kid! I also write nowadays... but I have kept a collection of my absolute favorite poems, written by others... I started it in elementary school. I tore poems out of my school text books
and I still have them. Many of them were copied from a school chalkboard, various publications, and later, the internet... One of these days I'm going to put them all up my web page.
