I saw it just after Christmas and I am now Rereading the books. So far it is pretty darn close. as far as the costumes being "like bad Rennfair garb" , i guess it all depends on your opinon of "good" fair garb. I did the eastcoast Renn Fair curcuit for 5 years and I don't think it was bad at all, true it was a little flashy but was still fairly accurate for medieval garb, better than what some of the wannabe Rennies wear each weekend. Also remember it is still only fantasy, and even in the books Lewis had made a comment about how many of the things in Narnia were created out of things in the childrens minds. Hence the more flashy idealised garb. The lack of blod was very appropreate considering that C.S. Lewis wrote the Chronicles of Narnia as a childrens story. All in all I felt it was an excellant movie for Narnia fans and the average movie goer. The BBC did a T.V. series of the chronicles, and it was almost word for word.
