im surprized that the box and styrofoam didnt fall apart The original box is surprisingly sturdy. But only if you have EVERYTHING that the FX came in. That means the styro innards with all the reinforcing pieces, the black decorative box, and the outer thick brown cardboard box.
The outer cardboard box gets a bit more beat up with each check in but I just keep reinforcing it with more 2" box tape ;DI still have the box...I use it every time I have to transport it in the car. But you've checked it in the plane just in the original box and it was fine, huh? Good to know! thanks All I did was pack everything exactly the way it came, seal the outer cardboard box on both ends properly, and run 2" box tape around it in several places along the length.
Oh and tying the box with some thick string rather firmly helps as well because the people handling it can carry it easily instead of having to toss it around.
