Hello my friends,
This morning my Father-in-law passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was 74.
He was not in the best of health having had two triple bypass heart surgeries in the past year. He had been in and out of the hospital several times- sometimes because he had stopped breathing.
He was a strong man with a wicked sense of humour. At any given moment he could burst into a song. I was privileged to have known him.
We knew this was coming- the doctors pretty much told us that he did not have long left to go. You just never believe it is going happen I guess.
My Wife was a complete mess when she first heard the news. She had lost her Mother to cancer about fifteen years ago. She's doing a bit better tonight.
We are having a private viewing tomorrow morning, after which he will be cremated as per his wishes.
Let me give you an example of his sense of humour- when his wife would ask what to do with the ashes he would answer:
"Put a tiny bit in box for safe keeping- put the rest in a Tupperware jar, and keep it in the trunk of your car. If you get stuck in the snow, throw the ashes under your back tire and put me to good use!"
We are all going to miss him dearly.
