1100 was the total number of people "through the door" over the 4 hour time period, "as reported by the library staff." Take it in context. 
My best guess was about 200-300 people actively participating, mostly kids. It seemed very crowded to me.
I'll post some pix when I get time. Right now I have 80 pics on a memory-stick but haven't had the time to sort through and rotoscope some.
