I'm planning to build a simple hilt (prop only), using the Padawan's Guide "sink pipe" tutorial, for two reasons: Cost & costume emphasis. Reasons? I can't afford at this time to invest in a ready-made hilt, let alone a full saber. Plus, I'd rather put a good costume together (that would make a good addition to the TJA "family") before getting the hilt ready for the photos.
My first question regarding hilts is pretty simple: Is there such a thing as a minimum/maximum length for saber hilts?

My smallest is just under 10 inches (9 3/4 inches),my longest is about 13 inches. I think the longest I have seen is about 14 inches. And then there are the double blade hilts etc. which are usually longer hilts with shorter blades. I's say between 10 and 14 inches is safest, see what is comfortable in your hand, and also on your belt when sitting.

I will. If you want me to start a separate WIP thread for the hilt, I will. I already purchased the pipes for two hilts & picked out some leather scraps for wrapped grips. One of them will be for Jedi use, of course...
I'm wanting to make a frankenhilt from a modified saberforge katana www.saberparts.com/#!/configure?code=18.104.22.168-22.214.171.124-126.96.36.199-188.8.131.52-184.108.40.206-220.127.116.11#%2Fconfigure (ignore the light piece, that was just to give the crystal color), and ultrasaber emerald light driver and blade, adding sound when I get the money. Does anyone have experience with custom ultrasaber parts? I cant figure out which parts to buy to allow upgrading later but still have working light now. I am asking here instead of their forums because they have a rule against mentioning their competition.
