Request Received for Orphanage Troop in August (California):
Hey, gang!
Hillsides orphanage has set a date with us for their annual STAR WARS Day event this year, and they are very eager to have us back. The Date is Saturday, August 03, 2013.
They absolutely loved us (last year was our second appearance), and we've since established this as an annual event there.
There are once again 66 kids in residence there - we were meant to do this!! This year is also Hillsides' centennial; they were founded in 1913.
Please email me if you have any questions at all, and please let me know in advance if any "face characters," like Darth Vader or the Emperor plan to attend, so that I can ensure that we don't have more than one of each "face character" at the event.
Looking very forward to having everyone back again this year!
All the best,
Joe "Lord Bruticus" Mignano TDE-021 Tyran'ari (PR Officer), The Dark Empire

For any of the westerners that have not done this event, it's rule amazing!!! A small background about this place - these kids are on their last leg in the orphanage system for whatever reason, and seeing the wonder and excitement in their faces is something I never forget! If you can make it please do!

Here's something of a report: Arrived at around 9am to help set up and guide new participants in the right direction. I didn't have to do much as everybody pretty much knew what to do and the wranglers were doing a great job. Met up with Jen and everyone, got some pictures with some group photos of Rebel Legion, 501st, Mandos and Saber Guild. Hillsides Orphanage Photo AlbumAfter the photos, we lined up to go into the auditorium to meet the kids. A lot of kids were there, ranging from 8 to 18, and they had just watched some Clone Wars. We mingled with the kids, passing out trading cards, signing autographs and putting lots of smiles on kids faces. I was really touched when one of the little girls remembered me from last year. After the meet & greet, most of us filed out to gear down while Saber Guild put on a FLAWLESS performance. The kids loved it and it wrapped up a wonderful troop. We're invited (according to Bruticus) for next year already, and the staff were really great. I had a great time, and it was awesome seeing everyone again.
