Leda, that's beautiful, nice work!
Dianakin, nice. Are you in the SCA? I've been meaning to join that group, but can't seem to make their meetings in my area. I'll have to check that pattern out. Simplicity makes a lot of good ones. About 16 years ago we were involved with a church that held a Madrigal dinner and mom volunteered to make the costumes, unfortunately at that time patterns for the time period were few. We had to combine patterns to make the dresses all look different and to make tunics for the guys. It was a lot of work, and a lot of fun.

that sounds like fun I used to volunteer at my son's high school to make/assemble costumes for the plays. That was alot of work too but loads of fun. We did the Headless Horseman, Grease, a couple of short Moliere plays, and A midsummer nights dream... 1960's style! That's what temps me to go back to school for fashion/costume design. I love to work in theater.

It was fun. Mom also helped with the costumes when I was in Guys and Dolls freshman year of high school. As much as I like it, I was never tempted to go to school for it. Just Library Science! I prefer to keep it as a hobby. But I always envision my story characters in costumes when I envision how they look. I think in costumes!

I know what you mean... even getting dressed in the morning, I think in costumes!
I also wouldn't mind fashion merchandising... I'd love to own a second hand retail clothing shop.

I just bought the pattern with the skirted coat & skirt w the pleated hem flounce, Victorian/SP, and the Martha McCain (Simplicity OOP) Eliazabethan, as well. My nephew is doing Civil War reenacting, I do medieval myself, right now working on my Viking tunics for the winter events. I need to sew some stuff for our Goth store, mostly SP and Vic. period.

Many months ago I started making a cosplay out fit: Twilight Princess Link. One of my friends encouraged me to do cosplay as Link. I have several of the acessories, but the seamstress stopped taking comissions for the main costume after I had placed my order. Oh well.....I could do Jedi Knight Link for laughs one time....

I could very easily see you as Link. A link Jedi could be fin - lightsaber instead of a sword

Thank-You everyone! ;D I have the wig, ears, bracers, and a wooden (con friendly) Master Sword. The costumer was at D*C selling Link costumes at her table. It would have been nice to go there and buy the costume from her.

New project... my son wants to be this character from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for halloween and NY comic con... thats 2 weeks away... he's got the sungasses so far lol. Its the jacket thats going to be tough. very specific. Could also do a hawaiian shirt which is what I'll probably end up making if I can find a similar printed fabric.

Leda, a Zelda wedding would be nice when the time comes.
Nova, be for warned, there is a lot of fabric in those pleats! And it took several hours to sew it and iron it.
A Jedi Link would be a good idea too. It's something easily transferable.
If I ever get married I'd have a Jedi Steampunk wedding. Jedi ceremony, Steampunked. SW and SP costumes would be acceptable on guests.

The Fear and Loathing in Vegas costume for my son is really coming along. He bought a jacket similar and I sewed color stripes on it to match the one in the movie, and yesterday I found a funky shirt at Salvation Army that he can use. Funny thing is that later when I looked at the tags, I realized it's a Sean John shirt! It's probably a $75.00 shirt and I paid $3.99 for it to use for a costume LOL! Today I painted an old pair of converse that he had to match the character's shoes. All he needs now is the cigarette filter for the fake cigarette. And, not a non-SW costume, but I'm starting to research how to do a clone costume. It's gonna take me a very long time to even afford to get started, but I've decided which one I want to do... it's the phase 2 clone from RotS... the ones on Utapau with the yellow markings. I'd make something like a muscle suit to wear under it so that my proportions would look more "manly" LOL, at least to have more bulk around the arms and shoulders. www.mwctoys.com/images/review_utapau_1.jpgI've always wanted some type of armor.

I'd like to incorporate a little bit of armor to my second costume. Finally got that drawn before I went out of town, just got to scan it.
