Last year Nar Shaddaa Base and the Midwest Garrison were invited to participate in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade. This parade is nationally televised on WGN in its entirety.
We would like to make an even stronger showing this year so we are inviting all Garrisons and Bases to join us.
We do start early .....we got to staging last year around 7:30 AM. The parade does move fairly briskly and we were done in time for everyone to get to their Thanksgiving meals.
If you might be able to make it, please sign up and also let me know what costume.
I will update this first post with additional information as it gets nearer to the event.
Here is a little information from the City of Chicago parade organizers:
Congratulations! We are pleased to invite Midwest Garrison/501st Legion to participate in the 2011 McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade, which has created millions of smiles throughout the country since 1934.
We encourage you to tailor your routine to commemorate this momentous occasion and develop something special that will only be seen in this parade.
The parade will take place in downtown Chicago on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday November 24th.
The parade will be once again broadcast live and in high definition locally on WGN 9 Chicago and nationally on WGN America, with distribution into 75 million households across the country.
This makes the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade one of the only three parades in the country to be broadcast nationally in its entirety.
Tell all of your friends and family nationwide to tune in to watch you shine on Thanksgiving morning!
