Thank you Jedi Council for accepting me in.... I am Philonius Kel, about to be part of the Mos Espa garrison of the Rebel Legion. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow Jedi here, and hope that I can bring a little to the table.
My costume is in progress... I basically whipped it up for Halloween last year, and need to make several improvements. So, if you see my photos, don't laugh!
May the Force be with us all.

Thank you, Master. I just eyed some sweet brown wool for the proper cloak, and some nice cotton gauze for new tabards The saber confounds me though.... I am reading a dizzying number of threads about what's the best type of saber to construct: sink tube or Custom Sabers? I love Custom's turned modular pieces, but is it really worth the extra dough? I'm rather crafty, and think I can make a good saber out of the sink tubes. I just need the good electronics.

bows Greetings welcome to The Jedi Assembly. As far as tweaking a costume goes I don't know of anyone who doesn't do that in an ongoing way---I know I do. Making the costume is a hard---maintaining & tweaking is the challenge & is ongoing--at least for me it is. May the Force be with you

Greetings though you can call me Ky...I'm not a Master yet. Anyway. Its really your call. I made my first hilt out of tubes and such. I felt it was part of the journey. Since then I've had sabers gifted and made for me that far surpass what my first plain hilt could do or how it looked. However I made it and that always shows some skill on my end. I'm not crafty in building them...only weilding them. Research a little more and let the Force if you will guide you as to what you think is the best way to approach the problem.

Alright, thank you Knights then (When does one become a Master, anyway?) Thank you Ky, I am leaning towards getting the basic body from Custom Sabers... man, those look great. And, I am hopefully getting my gal into this as well... she wants to do Barriss Offee!

Welcome. Yes, most of us continuously work on adjustments and upgrades to our costumes and props.
Thanks for posting. I upgraded your designation to "Jedi" to signify that you are a full member.

Ahh, thank you Kai! I almost don't feel like I'm there yet, but the upgrades to the costume are happening now. I figured as much with the rank... do we actually take on padawans? How does that work? I guess my girlfriend wanting to come in cold to do Barriss would be like a padawan... although she IS my girlfriend, and we Jedi can't have attachment, let alone like that with their apprentices!! Thank you so much fellow Jedi for the warm welcome. May the Force be with us all.

Greetings,
That can have a double meaning. I'm a big believer in mentors. So in that respect yes. There always new member who no matter the age need help finding kit parts and where to get this, how to make that etc. I was fortunate to have a mentor or Master who not only showed me how to access the items we need as Jedi costumers and such but also we'd talk philosophy and do kendo etc. I've continued that tradition with a Padawan Learner of my own. There are groups that do try to teach aspects of the code and how it applies to the modern way of living and some groups that promote having a Padawan as a role play hobby. Some people or groups , do all of the above.
It's all about what your looking for. Costuming help?, here and the RL are great. Roleplay..there is some here but you might want a different site...making sense?

Gotcha. I'm not sure how into the whole roleplaying part I want to get... if that's the case, I'm a padawan, so where's my master?? Naa, I just mainly want to suit up and come out, join the fun. Just wasn't sure if this was like the SCA, where folks get into the period.... sometimes a bit too much! I do WWII reenacting too, and there's only a slight bit of roleplaying (we call it "1st-person") so far as we develop a character for to fill in info in our paybooks, speak German in front of the public, etc, but we don't take it further than that. So in that, I think if my gal does Barriss Offee, she can play the Jedi Knight Barriss. Besides, can't have relations with your padawan

Heh thats true. There's places for everyone to get into character weather it's roleplay or just wearing a nice set of robes

Welcome! And congratulations on full membership. Yes, endless tweaking of your costume is inevitable. Or should I say "costumes" b/c you'll probably want more than one. It starts with an extra undertunic and pair of pants for a weekend con... And then it's another tunic and then another lightsaber, oh, and a *dueling* saber and then maybe some Clone Wars armor.... and maybe a different robe for a different season.... Welcome to our little addiction, I mean hobby....
