hey guys! jedi Dave here. your group sounds cool. I live in riverside, but don't know of any groups in my area. I was hoping to come check out the orange county group. Do you still meet at twila Reid park on fridays? Let me know what's up. May the force be with you!

That group is the Orange County Saber Alliance which is part of the Orange County Star Wars Society. You can check out their web site here: www.ocsws.com/

Right. They are not a part of TJA, or vice versa, but their meetings are announced here.

Such saber practice/organization is NOT a TJA sponsored, sanctioned, or '"based" activity. We have let it be announced here as a point of interest but you have not been authorized to hold it as a TJA activity.

Rob, he mentioned Twila Reid Park; that is where the OC Saber Alliance meets. As you pointed out, you meet in Tustin.
You have to allow for confusion when there are two groups, similarly named, that do exactly the same thing.

lokkendal, We now meet at Liberty Park in Cerritos. Very near the Cerritos Auto square. Our next rehearsal will be Wed. Nov. 18th.
This rehearsal is for a set of shows coming up on Nov. 21st from 9am- 4pm at the San Fernando Valley Children's Day Event at Woodley Park, Van Nuys, Ca. Shows at 11am, 1pm & 3pm.
I don't comment here often but I would like to help clear up what seems to be a lot of confusion concerning the Southern California Saber Guild. That's our name. We are under the Jedi Assembly and are not affiliated with the Orange County Star Wars Society or the O.C. Saber Alliance. Two completely different groups.
[moderator edit: SCSG IS NOT under the TJA. We have explicited stated that while you may announce your meetings here, we are not your sponsor. See my 2/22/09 and 2/25/09 posts, right in this thread! Please refrain from making such statements. I have locked this thread and am directing Council attention to it.]
Earlier this year Lucasfilm learned that the 501st, and maybe other clubs, took the ruling on saber shows way too seriously.
If anyone has any questions concerning the So. Cal. Saber Guild in relation to this ruling, Rob Estrada would be more than willing to share his direct correspondence with Steve Sansweet. Who, by the way, has given his blessing to the So. Cal. Saber Guild to perform the shows according to the rules that Lucasfilm has laid down.
I am the Vader for the Saber Guild and know that the above is true and correct.
Please see our Facebook page and video on You Tube by searching the following: So. Cal. Saber Guild
Now, let's get back to having fun with our costuming hobby. Yeah!
