i made my light saber for about $15. I made it from a metal pipe from Home depot, PVC pipe from home depot, wood from (u guessed it) home depot, and some screws that were lying around the house. it looks really cool. www.lighttechindustries.com has an EL light saber for only $95. It doesn't look too good, but I am sure you can do some thing to make it look nice. Plus its a lot cheaper then Parks.

the 9 i made , all came from two pvc pipes, both were 10 foot sections, and various coupler joints, to fit both pipe peices, and end either domed shaped, a plug type , or a squared end cap, to fit the biggest of the tubes, add some liitle details here and there, the right kind of paint, cheap .98 cents paint from walmart, silver, black, or gold, or even some gold over lay from the craft department, all n all the nine sabers didn't run over $25.00 - $30.00 max. lowes, home depot, plumbing supplies, and one i use a 5/8 inch four foot long wooden dowell rod as my dueling blade, tho it is more for pictures, to give me an idea how long to make the glowing blade.................and to also give me an idea of saber weight and close length.

"I now have a belt clip on it too, which I bought for $5.99 at Wal-Mart (cell phone/pager clip and not as expensive as a CoverTec that a lot of people use). "
Also check your local dollar store. My wife found a fairly decent cell phone / pager belt hook at our local one.
I'm finding out that you can find gold in the most unlikely places.
