what are most of you doing about the $10 minium order requirement on plastrut? i really dont need to order $10 worth of them which adds up to 25 spheres in all but seeing as how they seem to be the only ones carrying them oh well.

I've gone ahead an ordered the minimum twice now. I messed a couple up during my learning process, and the rest I used to make extra capsules. I figure I'll need a couple of extras handy in case they break or get lost, or I could always sell them. Several people have mentioned using sewing buttons instead of the Plastruct hemi's and they seem happy with them. Of course, if you want to buy them you could order them from Saberbelt. Someone has said it all comes down to personal preference.

first i have heard about using sewing buttons. i have been doing a search and came up with another website that sells the plastruct spheres www.udisco.com/hobbies/index.htmthey will be under general, then plastruct, and finally page 22 so far i have seen nothing about a minium order. it says they are out of canada so i dont know what the shipping would be to the us but shouldnt be to high i suspect.

I used the sewing buttons. Easy to find. You have to use the rounded ones, not flat buttons, but like the ones you see on fancy dresses and blouses. A shank button. Shank buttons have a projecting loop (shank) on the back of the button, which allows the button to be attached to, yet held slightly away from, the garment. Very basic.

jedimom, do the shank buttons come in the 7/16 size like the plastruct spheres? if i dont get the answers here then i know the person working in the button dept at walmart will be very confused when i ask " will this button fit a steadler pen so i can make a food capsule?" LOL Jauhzmynn, yea i would be more than happy to give members here any remaining spheres i would have if i bought the bulk from plastruct

Ya know, I didn't look at the size. I just went through Wal-Mart eyeballingthe buttonns and holding them up to the pack of pens I had to see if it looked like it would work. I did find some there that were great. Dunno the size, though. Sorry

OK guys and gals, I know this is not the best way to make food capsules . But I couldnt find em in wally world and I didnt see the link in time. But it is another option. I used wooden dowel and rounded both ends . Primed and sanded, reprimed and sanded , then painted gold. Glued the barrel part of the dowel to a flat plastic sheet just small enough not to be seen but hold all 4 capsules together. Then made a loop off the plastic backer to go on my belt you have to get kinda close to see what they really are so it worked for me
