Hi Everybody - I'm new here, but I wanted to show off how I spent my summer this year. I made Jedi belts and pouches for my wife and me to wear at Halloween. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, mostly I followed the tutorials and some general leather work knowledge. I used 10 ounce black latigo for the everything since I don't like to dye leather if I don't have to. The outer belt is 2 1/2 inches wide and the inner belt is 3/4 inch. The belt buckle is from a 3/4 inch web belt because I couldn't find one that was more authentic. Here is the front of my belt: Here is the back. I used snaps to adjust the length, but I didn't make a strap to cover the joint like many people do. This is a closeup of one of the smaller pouches. My wife's belt was pretty much the same as mine, but she wanted a different style of pouch. I hope you like it. Comments are welcome.

Great workmanship, the belt looks tip top. The only thing I would change, would be to clip those food capsules onto the main belt, not the accent belt! Heh heh I think the buckle looks great, definitely more interesting than Mace Windu's

Very nice work! I like those pouch designs. Excellent execution. I think the leatherworkers here have a slightly better appreciation of what it takes to make nice looking pouches like that.
You can't see the buckle in the top photo, it must be picking up the reflection of the belt.
I, personally, like dying my own leather, because then I can get the exact color that I want. ;D
But, uh, how come the food capsules on your wife's belt are upside down?

Thanks for the kind words everybody! It's good to hear from people who appreciate all the hard work. I, personally, like dying my own leather, because then I can get the exact color that I want. ;D I've dyed leather before with good results, but I tend to use a lot of black leather in my projects, so it saves several steps when I'm not stamping or tooling the leather. Good catch! I noticed that one myself after I posted the picture. I wasn't paying attention when I got the belt out of the box and put it on the mannequin upside down.

LOL Sometimes I even put my belt on upside down when I grab it in a hurry.
"Hey why is my Covertec on the wrong side? And my pouches are up......side......down. Dang!" lol
Because of that, I was wondering if the whole belt was upside down, but the pouch looks like it's right side up.

The pouches are right side up. My wife had taken them off the belt so that we could put it in a storage box. When I grabbed the belt for the photos, I put the pouches back on without paying attention and didn't notice until after I had posted the pictures.
Oh well, no harm done. I'm sure this won't be the last time I get burned by rushing a job.

Very well done....I like the leather dyeing as well, but i can certainly appreciate the desire to eliminate that step. I'd like to see more detailed photos of your pouches, but they look amazing....they seem to "fit" together really well. I liked that you used the "heavy" leather as well. I tend to go with the 3-4 oz stuff b/c of price, but this stuff is nice. I'd like to see pics of the belt loops and of the snaps, etc. in the rear as well.

Yes, I agree. Please post more detailed photos of the pouches from all sides, when you get the chance.
And now I understand that you put the pouches onto your wife's belt upside down before taking the pic, not the food caps.

Excellent job... and I know it's been said but I'll repeat it anyway--- you did a superb job on the pouches!

I liked that you used the "heavy" leather as well. I tend to go with the 3-4 oz stuff b/c of price, but this stuff is nice. TND Like many things, leather is cheaper if you buy it in bulk. Stores charge a lot more per square foot for cut leather than for full sides. Of course, if you buy a side of leather (20-25 square feet), it's WAY more than you need for a belt and a couple of pouches. However, if you can get several fellow Jedi to chip in, it might be a worth the effort. I get a lot of my leather here: www.hidehouse.com/Generally, their prices are cheaper than Tandy, but you have to buy it by the side. Great job! well done! Did you make the food capsules yourself too? I sure did. After all the effort of doing the leatherwork, the food capsules were easy by comparison. Most of the time involved was just waiting for the spraypaint to dry.

Hello, fellow Jedi - I'm back from Thanksgiving and I've finally digested enough that I'm capable of rational thought. Here are eagerly awaited pictures of my pouches. Small pouch: This one measures 3 x 3 x 1.25 inches. It doesn't hold much so I usually put my keys and my watch here. Large Pouch: Measures 5.5 x 4.5 x 1.5 inches. I keep my wallet in this one. This is the same basic design as the small pouch, so I'll only include a couple of pics. Medium Pouch - Measures 4.5 x 3.75 x 1.25 inches A couple of design notes about this one. My wife wanted the side of the pouch to be high enough that it would touch the flap and prevent anything from falling out. To do this, I had to make the side panel curve inside the pouch instead of out. I put the tab on the flap because I made a mistake when I assembled the pouch. The flap was not long enough to reach the snap I had installed on the body, so I had to add an extension to make it work. I made the second pouch the same way so that they would look alike.
