that was the link i posted previously. Thats what i have been using to start to make a lightsaber. Jedi Loreen uses el wire. Parks sabers use el flat/film wire.
Thats where my delima comes into question. I may have to build a few of each to see what works best.
I was hoping to find someone who has built with the el flat/film and see there method of how it was made. like was the film rolled and just inserted into the blade or was the backing that has peel and stick used. If so what is stuck to a tube and then inserted. Did they use a male and female connector or was it made so the blade it non removeable.

No, Sporty, you didn't say that.
I was responding to Ani-Chay Pinn saying that in an above post. I knew I should have put her name in my last post! lol

I fixed it! I fixed it!
I usually watch for that sort of thing. Very embarrasing.

Hey Kyrel,
I'm a fellow Va Beach Jedi looking to check out some Park Sabers. I have never seen one in hand. I own a FX Anakin MR and I love it...problem is that the hilt is not of my own design! I want to do a custom EL saber (with sound, if possible). Money isn't a factor...I just need some help on construction level- I have some great ideas on the conceptual level. I was hoping you could help. Email me if you could. Thanks and may the force be with you...

Well I successfully shortened my el blade! This particular one has 2 strips of el material inside, each on a seperate circuit. All I had to do was cut the tube with a pipe cutter, cut the strips to size, and re-insulate the tips from each other. Works like a charm. Next I will see about doing it with the lightech blade... I believe it's el wire.

Yes, Lightech blades are EL wire. You'll need to take out the set screw down at the male connector and pull the wire out, carefully.
You will also need to clean off the silicone that it's capped off with, since it will be on the end folds of the wire, which you might have to do first, if you don't cut the tube first. Then refold the wire to fit the new length of your tube and slide it back in, reinstalling the set screw on the connector.
I also recommend reinstalling the set screw at the end that held in the silicone plug, of you have a tap, it needs something to hold the new plug in there that you will make when you reseal it with more silicone.
At Dragon*Con 2003, I saw a Lightech blade that had seen some intense dueling. The plug ripped free of the screw and it vomited forth the whole folded strand of EL wire.
The guy started trying to just stuff it back in and I said, no, you can't do it like that. Look at where the bends are and refold it that way and reinsert it.
Then I told him to take it to Mike's booth (Lightech was at the Con) to see if he could fix the end.
That screw is supposed to hold the silicone plug in, but I guess I saw for myself that it can break free of it.
How much are you cutting off your blades, Leda?

Probably no more than 4 inches. I cut 6 off of the last one and although it feels right, it looks a bit short. Taking off 4 gives me 32 inches of visible blade.
Funny you should mention that guy at Dragon-Con---same thing happened to my lightech blade. I was sparring with some guy at a local con and half the wire ended up hanging out of the tube... I shoved it back in and it looks a bit twisted now. But that was before Mike began to use screws to secure the top. He did show me how to fix the plug with hot glue and told me to add a screw to keep it in place, which I will do after I've shortened it.
So what happens with the paper that's around the wire. Can I assume I would just cut it along with the tube and leave it in place? I can't imaging it being easy to re-insert.

Yeah, I would just leave the paper in there and cut it down. I've heard of people taking their blades apart and pulling out the diffuser paper. They can never get it back in easily, especially without wrinkling it.
