the click is prolly the sound of the 1/4 inch jack makeing contact with the jack. check to see if there is a set screw. both my obi and qui-gon have a set screw. i'm sure theres one.

The sound of the click isn't the problem. The fact that the switch does not reliably turn on or off the blade and that the blade flickers if the switch is grazed is the problem.
There really is NO set screw for the blade. This saber is a new and different one from Parks. It has the "deuce technology" (though that's not explained anywhere on the website). It does require 2 9volt batteries. I've seen plenty of Parks so know where the set screw is and have built several sabers of my own with set screws to hold the blades.
Later....aha. What there is is a hex screw on the underside. My husband, the electronics engineer, identified it.
He also figured out one of the reasons for the problem with the switch. The switch has a red knob over it. The nubbin on which the knob fits is very short. The indentation in the underside of the knob which fits over the bit on the switch is deeper than the switch nubbin is high. So the more times I turn it off and on, the deeper over the switch nubbin the knob is pushed, until it's flush with the saber and can no longer depress the switch. However, the knob is going to fall off and get lost, for certain. I'm going to ask for a supply of them from Parks.
However, the switch is still flakey as I can wingle it side to side and the blade flickers.

The pics look great Kai
It is intresting to see Parks not use a screw for the blade and the switch does sound a little jumpy. Jeff is really a good guy to deal with. I'm sure of you call and leave a message rather then e-mail he will get back to you and see if there's anythign he can do to help.. I got my stunt saber for DC and afterwards I noticed soem things on it. He offered to have it send back and fixed but I said I could fix it if he told me how and he did.
I'd be more intrested in seeing if you can have a thumb screw put in to keep the saber blade in.

ya i've had a couple switches like that. I wander why he still uses them. both mine have them and are very aggrivating. also, I wasn't insinuating you didn't know what a set screw was. just wanted to make sure.

Of course. I'm used to a thumbscrew as a set screw holding the saber so didn't notice the tiny little hole for the hex on the underside of the saber.
Per the email from his contact person, I left voicemail "at the shop" on Tuesday. No response as of the end of the day today, Thursday.

Kai if you still haven't heard back from him, let me know I'll see if I can find another contact method for you I may have. He's usually pretty good about stuff but I think he needs to get his staff more to the point of bringing things to his attention.

Thanks all. Jeff did call me on Monday. He said he'd done a big push for Halloween and then took a few days off. Said to return just the hilt, which I've done. Said he'd look at the switch and see what he could do.

The whole "deuce technology" is just a 4khz inverter using 2 9volt batteries. Which actually dosent help a 4khz inverter sence parks uses el paper. If he was using el wire then I can understand 2 9volts on a single 4khz inverter.

Your image can't be seen. I didn't really care so much about the intensity of the EL blade. I like the hilt and having a blade that lights up in any way is all I want.

Yeah I agree, it is nice for soem night fun or refrence shots and duelling.
I wanan get one now that they are 300, but I think I might get him to make soem changes. use allen key screws to take the end cap off and maybe use a different type of switch for the activator

Eagerly awaiting mine's return. tap, tap, tap
Hasid: I don't understand the point you're making. I don't do electronics so don't understand electronics-speak. And I also don't understand the point of the image about a bucket in Russia???

Picked up the returned/repaired QV from my PO box today. The switch is much better. The red button no longer falls off and it reliably turns on the blade. The lighted blade does still flicker when the red button is accidentally knocked, but that can be avoided. I've taken high res. closeups of the battery compartment, the hex screw that tightens in the blade and the on/off button. I've reset the album settings to allow for download of these high res. images if you want them (Ky-Wan). The new images start with number 8 here: public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/parks-qv-/
