Hey gang, I ordered a hilt with blue 36" blade back in March and was told at the time 16-18 weeks. Now its November and I'm looking at another 4 months or more. Is this customary? I'm not worried, just psyched to get it. Thanks for all the input.

Ryan has been swamped with orders as well as some contract work (I believe). He runs a one-man shop and it can take time. Why not stop on over at the Randomsabers forums and send him a PM\e-mail and ask about it. From my experience he is usually quite amicable.

I did ask Ryan and he told me to look at the progress chart. I calculated it to be another 4 months or so. I didn't know he was swamped but I guess he would be since it will be about a year when I get it, after I was quoted 16-18 weeks.

My hilts were ordered in September of 2005 and I got them in July this year.

I ordered mine in January and I still have approximately 2-4 weeks to go. I too was told 15-16 weeks but after seeing the quality of the sabers he is turning out I won't complain about the length of time. Just as long as I have it before C-IV.

I was never told an amount of time. As it states on their FAQ:
"This simply depends on just how busy we are at the moment you ask. The average project takes about a day to complete, however, each one is done in the order the project was paid for. In the most basic terms, that means if you order a saber today, dont expect to get it worked on tomorrow. We have had a 'waiting list' ever since the company started, nearly 6 years ago.
By checking the STATUS page, you can get a general idea of a time frame. Keep in mind, though - that because each project is created by hand, there are sometimes problems that arise. The dates set on the STATUS page are tentative, and are there to provide an approximate date. We have learned early on not to promise a specific time frame."
I ended up waiting until I saw my name creeping up the list and broke out the calculator. Then I took into account weekends and some additional days. It actually turned out fairly accurate.

I like the emitter plug idea for your design.

Has anyone noticed that Randomsabers web site says they will not be taking any new orders for the next two years?

Ryan has had to place a halt on new orders for a number of reasons. It will take nearly that long to clear out the backlog of orders for customers who have already paid in part or in full.

Has anyone noticed that Randomsabers web site says they will not be taking any new orders for the next two years? yes, dang it! when I tried to order in April, he asked me to wait a couple months. When I finally went back a couple weeks ago, I find he didn't open up orders but closed it down further. Ordered from Parks.

I ordered mine in late August of 2006, I'm still waiting! I originally thought that I would be getting it by this October or so, but now it seems like it won't be until maybe next March...can't wait!
