I made a hilt out of a sink tail piece and pvc, turned out nice. I used the band saw @ work for "big" cuts and my dremel for the rest. Rotory tools are a wonderful tool, very versitile. Like Ceejay928 I used cutting wheels and little sanding drums. I like the idea of using a pipe cutter for the "big" cuts, that would make a very nice cut.

Leda I agree with Jaivan on the pipe cutter . Do you have one? Just tighten it up little bits at a time and watch the blade as it cuts . I have also found the wrapping a smal amount of tape over the area . Stops the wheels on the back side of the cutter from scratching your work surface If the cutter doesnt cut though at least you have scribed a nice line Leda!

Syru, your lucky to have these tools available. All I have at home is a circular saw, but no clamps or work bench. I just use it to cut wood for simple projects. I thought of going to the local high school's metal shop but my son doesn't know the instructor... works better if you know someone!
I don't have a pipe cutter either, but I think I might look for one to buy. Sounds like it could come in handy for more than just lightsabers... I could use it for things like--- cutting drainpipes to fix the sink! lol!

Someone is eithe buying very expensive pipe cutters, I think I only paid about $20 for my simple pipe cutter, or really cheap rotary tool Dremel knock offs. I paid over $100 for my Dremel.

Update on the sabers I'm working on; they're coming along nicely, just it's hard to find a good source for lots of o-rings.

Try the plumbing department of a hardware store, they should either sell them in packs of 5-10, or maybe even sell them individually. It's funny just how many can be needed though Good luck with the sabers, I can't wait to see the finished articles

Loreen my pipe cutter was a large one for steel or PVC and my dremel was a craftsman I found one sale for like 50 bucks .
All the regular dremel bits fit it though.
