Thanks again...
And yes, that is a blue LED (as mentioned above, you must have missed it). Puts off a really bright blue light. Runs on 3 tiny little batteries (like watch batteries)...

Well, I don't know about being "genious" status, but thank you very much for such a compliment. I just try to keep it interesting...

Hope this wont be asking you to give away any trade secrets, but cold you give a step by step instruction on how you made this one and maybe a list of parts. I would love to make one like this to add to my collection of sabers I have been making.

Sorry I took so long to reply...just missed your post I suppose.
I hold no secrets...
Here's what I used: -Stainless Steel handrail (like used in commercial restrooms and such) -Brass lamp pipe (as used in making electric lamps, found in lighting section at Lowe's) -Brass drawer pull (from Lowe's) -Brass doorbell button (really expensive, again Lowe's)*note, I only used the button from this...wanted that particular shape... -Chrome plated brass sink pipe (sanded and polished off the chrome for the brass portion of the activator plate) -Steel pipe from metal mop handle (these are coated with plastic...removed) to make the crystal chamber -Dowell rod (inserted into crystal chamber...crysatl "seats" into dowell, drawer pull is screwed into this as well) -Lighted crystal keychain (from Target) -"Rhinestone" type crystal (Michael's Arts and Crafts), backing removed. This crystal rests just above the primary crystal. -Gallery Glass window color (stained glass paint...Michael's Arts and Crafts)...painted crystal so that it appears blue when not lit...*note crystal has blue LED already -Odd bits of brass pipe in crystal chamber (junk bin) -Custom made emitter from aluminum junk part, modified -Brass cap nut (used in furnature making...Lowe's fasteners section)...shortened and drilled out...used for belt clip knob (like a covertec knob)...fits Nokia and similar cell phone clips
That's about it for parts. As for "how"...
As with most of my saber designs, it's "layered". The outer casing is stainless steel, cut to shape with a band saw and cleaned up with a dremel. The cut-out for the grip was saved to make part of the activator plate with.
So, as the layers go:
Outer casing: made from stainless stell handrail, cutout for emitter and grip insert, also has two activator plates (1 brass and 1 steel) attatched. The steel activator plate has the activator switch (doorbell button) attatched to it via a small screw. The brass activator plate has a cut-out for the doorbell button. These two plates are screwed to the outer casing via machine screws. The activator plates are attatched after all subsequent layers are in place, so that they "bite" into more thickness and hold in place well.
Grip: this is made from the same stainless steel. The grip is split down the back (allowing it to flex and therefore fit inside the outer casing). It has cuts in it for grip and to show the next (brass) layer underneath. The grip is pressure fit into the outer casing (tight fit that must be forced into place)
Core: this is the layer under the grip. It fits tightly inside the grip (same method, pressure fit). This layer is brass. The emitter is pressure fit into the end of this piece.
Crystal chamber. The crystal chamber was assembled from a steel mop handle, with the plastic coating removed. The cut outs for the crystal to be seen through were cut with a dremel. The brass inserts are held in place by small screws, lightly filed the heads to round them, making it fit inside the core easier. The drawer pull is attatched to a dowell rod, and the dowell is held in place by small screws.
The belt clip knob (cap nut) is held in place by a metal screw.
The crystal chamber is inserted, and held in place by a small brass woodscrew just below the belt clip knob.
Note, all attatched items (activator plates, belt clip knob) are attached with sheet metal screw, that do not penetrate far enough to obscure the crystal chamber's need to slide in and out. So, none of these must be removed. You need only to remove the one retaining screw, and slide the chamber out.
Sorry so lengthy, but I hope that helps out...

Kai, I was wondering if you'd be willing to make another that I could buy from you. If not could you email me a set of schematics for reference so I could try and construct my own.

Kai, Awesome saber! That's some nice work! (You could make some serious money making more of them... maybe enough to offset the cost of your first one!)

Sorry, I missed some of the activity here.
To answer your questions:
Jon: Welcome to the Assembly. Sorry, but no, I don't make lightsabers for sale. But of course, if you're making your own, I'm glad to offer advice and share what I've learned.
Cailumm:As mentioned above, I don't sell sabers. As to schematics, unfortunately no. I tend to either make the sabers abstractly (without a sketch or design...just whatever comes into being) or, I work (usually) from a simple sketch or drawing of what I want. In the passage above, I covered all the parts and so forth for this one... a little trial and error occurs on some of my projects, but sometimes I get an image in my mind that simply finds it's way out.
Noslen: Thank you very much. I appreciate that. Of course, by now you know that I don't make sabers for sale. Perhaps I could make money by doing so, but that's not my goal. I find the sharing of knowledge far more rewarding than money. So, if I can ever help you, I'll certainly do my best.

The question is... does it work? If not it is just a child's play thing! Just kidding.
