Today is my mom's 85th Birthday! She's in good health and can still take care of her herself. Good news on another year, for none of us want to be without her! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Very nice! Happy B-Day to your mom! Good health at that age (any age) is a blessing indeed!

Well another small victory for my sister. As some of you may or may not know, she's been in a custody battle for her two year old son. First she was only allowed supervised visitation whenever it suited her in-laws. Then she got him almost every weekend. Now another full day has been added to the schedule where my sister has him. Now there are only two days out of the week she will not see him, and it's looking likely that soon, she may have him for the entire week with the exception of a few weekends.

Earlier this year I applied to transfer to a different section in the hospital where I work.... the Transitional Care Unit (the nursing section). I was informed I was selected the first week in August. So this week I was finally told when I will move there: 1 October. Finally. I hope I like it. I'm looking forward to something different. In some ways, primary care is something different every day and in others it had gotten to be routine. It is also an incredible amount of work involving being in two places at once (the clinic and inpatient care) with a patient panel size of 3500-5000. The TCU is desirable because that is also the location of our hospice unit.
I have one more full week. I need to start packing and moving my office. Sept 24-26, I orient the person who will cover my position in primary care while recruitment is underway. On Sept 27 & 28, I will orient in TCU. My graduate intern has elected to move with me. She had applied to intern in Primary Care. When I got the position, I offered her the option to change preceptors and stay in Primary Care or to move with me to TCU.
