I don't know why I didn't think of this before (and I have a feeling that smarter people have), but I finally found a solution to my pant legs getting pushed up when I put my boots on:
-- With pants on, put socks on. -- Fold pants around the legs so that they fit closely to the ankles -- Roll the socks up over the pant legs -- Put the boots on
Works every time. The socks keep the pant legs on fine when putting boots on (my boots don't have zippers).

I thought you wer going to advocate stirrups on the pant legs.

I've tried stirrups on pant legs before. I can always feel them digging into the bottoms of my feet when I walk around. Nope, I'm not a fan of stirrups. The sock thing seems to work fine.

Is this a new revelation? Maybe for some. I've been rolling my longer socks up over my pant legs for years!
Yeah, I've tried the stirrup thing too. I agree, it's annoying to the bottom of the feet.

Ah ha! I knew that it had to be some old trick somehow. I just hadn't figured it out before now.

Anyone who has gone into a jungle where there're leeches know to roll their socks over their pants to prevent leeches from crawling in ;D
I never had to do that for my costume though, the boot's zipper open in front so I just fold my pants, hold it with my hand, pull the zip and release my hand

::)I ah duh? Something so simple. :-/Why didn't I think of that? Thanks will try. I hate things under my feet, most irritating, unless they are socks, shoes or boots.

I learned the socks trick when I rode horseback as a kid, but also used it in the woods for ticks and leeches. Even with zippers in boots, it sometimes is a good thing. Other tricks, lacing the sides of the lower leg of the pants from the knee down, , fabric wrap, like roman sandle ties on pants leg, peg the pants leg so that it is narrower below the knee, wear leggings if you're a girl.

The boots for my Sith costume are one-piece riding boots, and I only ever tucked my pants flat and then pulled the boots on, and they stayed in place fine ;D The boots for my Jedi costume have zips though, which makes the fold even easier to do

I'm glad I read this thread! I was just about to sew stirrups into my pants. I'm pretty easily bothered by stuff, so if others don't like the stirrups I'm sure they would drive me absolutely NUTS!
Thanks, everyone!
