I would also like to find some boots, mens size 13. Since I'm low on cash, maybe I would be able to trade something for them. Gondorian Vambraces, anyone?

They're the leather forearm armour that Boromir wears in Fellowship of the Ring that Aragorn takes when Boromir dies. I made some a couple of years ago.

You know, Jedi Headhunter had some of those leather gauntlets on at Dragon Con. I thought those looked great, and couldn't believe it when I heard that he'd made all his super cool leather 'armor' out of an old suitcase!
So, my question for you, Shatir, is how does one go about making their own gauntlets? I'd really like to be able to do some for my next costume.

I drew a fullsized stencil from looking at pics, and wrapping the stencil around my arm to make sure of the size. I then drew the outline onto some heavy cowhide and cut it out after soaking it for an hour or so. I then stamped out the pattern of Boromir's vambraces with leather working tools. I used brass snaps to fasten the straps. Wrap the leather around your arm and mark where you want the straps to connect. Don't put the snaps in just yet. Make sure to dye the leather to the colour you want, let it dry, then put in the fasteners. There you have it, Gondorian Vambraces.
